The primary purpose of the LIA Student Council (SC) is to provide leadership for the student body and to contribute to the spirit and mission of the school by enhancing the democratic values. The SC acts as voice for the student body to the faculty and administration, represents the interests and needs of the students, and takes action to serve the school and wider community. SC members are expected to be role models for other students, to promote religious values, citizenship, and leadership. The Student Council is an important part to the successful operation of the school.

Elections are held at the beginning of every school year, following a strict procedure in which an Ethics Committee is formed and trained to supervise the entire election process. The process includes the election of class representatives, the creation of parties, the selection of candidates, the presentation of parties programs, a campaign with limited funding, a public debate, the election, and the inauguration of the elected party.
